AMY POND, MY QUEEN!

There was a comment in an otherwise unsqueeful blog post that perfectly summed up why I love Amy:

Amy is the way she is for several reasons. She is "sassy" and flippant with everyone because most people in her life have regarded her as crazy or immature and wouldn't listen to her. In one reality due to the raggedy doctor, and in another due to her belief in stars. She is... emotional about the doctor because she waited 14 years for him to take her away after he swept up her world when she was 7. She obeys the doctor, though more tentatively, because she has always tried to follow in his wake. She became a kissogram, essentially doing to people what the doctor did to her, showing up, giving one quick moment of excitement, and disappearing without second thought. Essentially the Doctor broke Amy but she is still functional, yet somewhat dependent, and is sassy and lustful not because of being a woman, but because the Doctor kind of broke her.

But at the same time she is dead clever. She is the first person to come up with the idea of just simply winking when dealing with the weeping angels, something a lot of people were yelling at the screen for Sally Sparrow to do in Blink. She figures out the whale, she is able to deal with her younger self carefully in the big bang. And she is also compassionate... as well as fiercely blunt.
Amy is a wonderful combination of pros and flaws that was missing to a horrific extent with Rose (Whom everyone on the show adored), and somewhat with Martha.

Moffat has brought a great psychological story to Amy, and has made the most well written and developed companion OF the new series, because she doesn't exist on a pedestal. She is a real, flawed, broken, yet clever, human being.
