I know I'm not the only one who's been enjoying the heck out of Season Six, and I thought it would be nice to have a post to talk about the things going on so far that we like.
Basic groundrules - keep it positive, and especially refrain from framing your praise by criticising something else, e.g. 'Matt Smith is soooo much better than every other Doctor, they all sucked', etc.
Please clearly mark any spoilers for future episodes, including episode trailers, casting information, interviews with writers, etc. All three aired episodes are fair game, as is unspoiled speculation.
A lot of the big things that have happened in the show so far have made really happy - the way we've been launched right into the middle of an epic story and the emotional and thematic throughline that's already developing. The mind-blowingly awesome River Song swaggering back onto my TV, Mark Sheppard's fantastic guest turn as Canton Everett Delaware III (and the introduction of one of the most prominent queer characters we've seen in a while), multiple new alien races, spaceships, gorgeous effects shots and cinematography, and the glorious return of a Team TARDIS very close to my heart.
Here are a few smaller things that have also brought me much joy:
+ Establishing a relationship between Rory and River, in particular that it seems to be partly founded on 'we married idiots, didn't we?'
+ "She's doing it again. Dr. Song, sir. She's packing."
+ Some of the smaller themes continuing from the last series - Rory's experiences as a Centurion, the reappearance of the Lodger spaceship, Amy's experiences as a child, etc. I feel rewarded as a fan who wonders about these things!
+ The way the writing continues to quietly play with gender and sexuality - both Amy/Rory and River/Doctor subvert stereotypical expectations of heterosexual relationships, in part because Rory and the Doctor are both so defined by qualities like kindness and compassion, and the forthrightness of both Amy and River. But both relationships clearly have a basis of mutual respect and affection (still developing in the Doctor's case), and are lovely to watch.
+ Amy and her clear enthusiasm for dressing up as a pirate and doing some fabulous swashbuckling.
+ The image of a pirate crew, fundamentally changed and, perhaps, transformed by their otherworldly experiences, off on a new voyage among the stars. Just gorgeous.
+ And lastly, given that most of the above points have been relatively coherent, may I just say that OMG I LOVE THEM ALL AND THEIR FACES, SQUEE.
Over to you!

+ Amy being beautiful AND smart AND brave.
+ the fact that team Tardis all clearly get on so well together in real life and are having such fun.
+ did I mention River?

Pretty much everything about The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon could be added to that list. It had everything I love in my DW: interestng relationships between all the characters, a compelling guest star, and, most importantly of all, even though it's been around since the 70's: snarking on Richard Nixon. (I didn't know this was what I wanted so badly until I got it!)

The brilliant

"Okay, fair point."
I just . . . the more I think about it, the more I love how that was handled. How YES, he's still insecure, because I'd like to inform the world (being that sort of insecure person myself, about those kinds of things) those kinds of insecurities don't magically go away, even in the face of reassurance. Indeed, often reassurance for those insecurities can be kind of like Silents: you can only remember it when you're LOOKING RIGHT AT IT.
So it's there, but on the other hand, it's not a THING. Amy's utterly secure in where she is, and she treats it like she should: like he's just being a bit of an idiot again and letting the Stupid eat his brain. And Rory knows there's this THING in his brain and intellectually he knows it's kind of stupid but emotionally there is this whole why the hell would she ever pick ME? self-doubt and just, ♥
I am of course terrified they're going to screw it up, which will make me Sad and Angry (I don't identify quite as hard with Rory Williams Pond as I did with Simon Tam, but.), but for now, it makes me HAPPY.

Yes, EXACTLY! I love that Rory's insecurity is there, but it doesn't overwhelm all his other amazing qualities, not to mention his ability to break bits of NASA.

not to mention his ability to break bits of NASA.
And look ridiculously attractive in a suit and terrible glasses.

I love Amy, because she does stuff and has excellent taste in hats.
I love Rory, because he loves Amy.
I love River. I would quite like to be River. (And oh yes, that 'packing' line had me.)

AMY! Oh, Amy. I will never not love you. You are so awesome.
And Canton! I loved Canton! He was amazing, and snark filled, and just wonderful. I would love to see him come back.
And Matt Smith as the Doctor? Perfection. Seriously, I just. His acting kills me. He knocks his lines out of the park and the physical side to his acting cracks me up :'D
I am loveing the plotting, the storylines, and ngl, pretty much everything.

-The creepy aliens because they are SO EPICALLY CREEPY
-Amy and Rory being adorable in general, worrying about each other and having fun together (and still all about dressing up!)
-River being so much of a badass. SO SO MUCH.
-CANTON. Saving the world and being gay. ALL AT THE SAME TIME. ♥

AND FULL OF THE DEADPAN, UNDERSTATED SNARK. That's my favourite part. "So I guess they can't hear me." "Never had a complaint before."

I'm filled with love for Eleven (now firmly a contender for my most favorite Doctor ever -- okay, he was by the end of S5, but still), and River and Amy and Rory. And Canton! I so much want him to come back somehow. I loved how I got so used to him being part of Team TARDIS and then got a little reminder -- "It's a video phone ... whatever a video phone is" -- that, oh yeah, he is from 1969. Things will still seem foreign to him.
And everything you said and everything everyone else has said here too!

"Fish-sticks and custard." And the fact that HE DOES, IN FACT, TRUST HER ENOUGH TO THEN GO IN BLIND. And also just how gentle he sounds when he's like "Of course I'm okay, I'm the King of Okay."
Because I'm the world's biggest sucker for that kind of thing.

There was a comment in an otherwise unsqueeful blog post that perfectly summed up why I love Amy:
Amy is the way she is for several reasons. She is "sassy" and flippant with everyone because most people in her life have regarded her as crazy or immature and wouldn't listen to her. In one reality due to the raggedy doctor, and in another due to her belief in stars. She is... emotional about the doctor because she waited 14 years for him to take her away after he swept up her world when she was 7. She obeys the doctor, though more tentatively, because she has always tried to follow in his wake. She became a kissogram, essentially doing to people what the doctor did to her, showing up, giving one quick moment of excitement, and disappearing without second thought. Essentially the Doctor broke Amy but she is still functional, yet somewhat dependent, and is sassy and lustful not because of being a woman, but because the Doctor kind of broke her.
But at the same time she is dead clever. She is the first person to come up with the idea of just simply winking when dealing with the weeping angels, something a lot of people were yelling at the screen for Sally Sparrow to do in Blink. She figures out the whale, she is able to deal with her younger self carefully in the big bang. And she is also compassionate... as well as fiercely blunt.
Amy is a wonderful combination of pros and flaws that was missing to a horrific extent with Rose (Whom everyone on the show adored), and somewhat with Martha.
Moffat has brought a great psychological story to Amy, and has made the most well written and developed companion OF the new series, because she doesn't exist on a pedestal. She is a real, flawed, broken, yet clever, human being.
