It was a better story than Let's Kill Hitler (and with far fewer plotholes!), but for some reason, it didn't impress me. I couldn't relate to a child who was afraid of absolutely everything, and his reason for fearing everything seemed rather thin on the ground. It was clear that George's parents loved him; they just didn't know how to eliminate his fears. And just saying "You're my son and I love you and I'll never send you away"--what, REALLY? That fixed everything? His parents hadn't said, "We love you" before that?

The only other thing that stood out for me is that Steven Moffat and his team have real issues with anything artificial and vaguely doll-like.

B on story, C on execution, I'd say.

I was willing to buy the alien=different childhood psychology, if only because I was enjoying the show.

Personally, I'd give it C+ on execution, B- on story.

No classic, but I'd happily sit through it again if someone else wanted to watch it.
