Doctor Who Friending Meme

There's so many folks coming in to Dreamwidth it feels like a massive game of Marco-Polo in the dark - seems it would be a useful thing to have a Friending Meme up for our fandom, to help us find one another and get our favorite types of communities up and running at our new "home".

Adapt and add/subtract as you see fit!

DOCTOR WHO FRIENDING MEME

Please DO pimp this meme out to any Whovians you may have on your own flists, or to other related communities.

Name: Charamei
'Your Doctor' plus your Favourite Doctor: Ten, and Two.
Favourite companion(s): My favourite team is Two/Zoe/Jamie. I'm also fond of Ian and Barbara, all of Four's lot, Ace and Donna.
Favourite minor character(s): I'm not sure if the Brigadier counts as minor or not... also, Wilf.
Favourite ship(s): Doctor/Romana (all/all), Doctor/Master. Though I tend not to read either because there's not much good asexual Who around.
Some favourite episode(s): The Gunfighters is probably one of the funniest; Mind Robber and Brain of Morbius are both love. And The Next Doctor is one of my favourite New Who episodes.
Fic writer? What genres?: Yes, and gen. Well, gen and asexual romance. (My fic directory is here).
Favourite Who communities back at LJ: N/A: I live on Dreamwidth. I do crosspost to [livejournal.com profile] dwfiction, though.
Other Fandom(s): Sherlock, Randall and Hopkirk (deceased).
Fez?: Yes, please. I'll have the one Seven wears briefly in Silver Nemesis XD
Anything else? I also tend to meta at new episodes and review the books.

What do you mean by "asexual romance"?
charamei: Sherlock says, "I'm bored and your porn is boring." (Sherlock: Boring porn)

Romance in which at least one participant is asexual (usually the Time Lord in Who).

Asexual does not necessarily mean aromantic. :)

As I said, there's not much of it in this fandom, which is a shame given the long tradition of asexual Time Lords. [livejournal.com profile] asexy_sherlock is the comm for Sherlock, so that's the best place to go for examples.

Not... really? Asexuals can be in love with someone, in a romantic sense, and still not want to have sex with them. For a romantic asexual, there's an intermediary step that might well be filled with, say, kissing, sharing a bed and general physical closeness without any kind of arousal factoring in.

I'm possibly not explaining this very well because, being ace myself, it makes far more intuitive sense to me than the sex does. If that's the case then I apologise: keep asking me questions if you want and I'll do my best to make this make sense :) You might also want to check out the FAQ I linked to upthread (here it is again), because the folks at AVEN are far better at this than I am.

EDIT: Sorry, just reread: in terms of fic, I guess there's not much difference between this and a PG-13 romance? Except in terms of implication: when I write PG-13 'normal' romance, there's usually at least some implication that they're getting busy offscreen. When I write ace romance, they're not.

OMG, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)! 1969, or 2000?

Both, although I'm far more familiar with 2000. I keep meaning to get the 1969 DVDs off Amazon; until then, I'm stuck catching the old show whenever Channel 4 repeats it.

Favourite episode of the new(er) series: Marshall and Snellgrove XD For so, so many reasons.

Marshall and Snellgrove was awesome. I'm a huge 1969 R&H fan, but I like the 2000 version, too. And you're a Doctor Who fan! Mind if I subscribe to you?

I just went and read some of your work. I love your fic! I always preferred the Doctor to be asexual and was horrified about 10 years ago when I stumbled across my first adult-rated DW fic. I guess I've gotten acclimated to it over the years, but I still like my Doctor to be more asexual. I adore the Doctor/River banter, but I'm afraid I'll lose interest if it goes any further in canon. I"m adding you to my reading list.
