So... what did we think of Smile?

I liked this week's episode. Again! Am now cautiously hopeful that this might be a pattern...

Am especially in love with Bill.

How about you lot?

That "Wicked!" reminded me of Ace!

I really, really liked this, which was especially nice given how meh I was about Cottrell-Boyce's previous episode. Sure, the ending literally just pressed a reset button, but I was enjoying it too much to care. Bill remains an utter delight, and she had better not leave, dammit. (Even though I think she will.)

i liked it even if it did fall apart slightly once it had to actually deal with the killer emojibots instead of finding out what the plot was.

Bill continues to be made of win and Bill and Twelve together made of even greater win.

Doubt it will be anyone's favorite of the season, but a solid episode two. Did what it needed to do while being delightful.

I felt a bit meh about it. Bill was great, and the Doctor was ok, but overall it seemed a bit dull.

I was expecting it to be cute and nice and character-y and it was but then there were also many think-y things.

I enjoyed it, but without a whole lot of enthusiasm, as I did the opener - but I realized, as I typed the previous clause that the opener has already faded almost completely away in my memory.

I like Bill, but the episode felt rushed, and so went down like a thin broth instead of a hearty stew. The story felt like the outline of a story, not a story itself. We didn't meet a single character outside of our twosome to care about.

But despite all that, Capaldi is charming and Pearl Mackie's Bill has a charming enthusiasm that - now that others have pointed it out - does echo that of Ace, just a little.

My 7-year-old is working her way through this season on iPlayer. Verdict on this one: 'the robots are really creepy!'
