It would be good if religion were depicted in Who naturalistically, but I don't want it endorsing a specific faith.

Yeah, I think they did reasonably well with that this time (my problems with the ep were Other Than Religion, which surprised me, although having seen your and BeccaElisabeth and Lizbee and Nostalgia's posts I think between you you've said All The Things I might say).

There's always been a lot of religion shown in Who (see icon), even if mostly made up. After all, the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, has been a character on Doctor Who several times, and like Pope Benedict (which one, I wonder?) seems to have had a warmish relationship with the Doctor!

I loved Extremis! And I love it when Doctor Who explores issues of faith-- Doctor Who is at its best when it explores all aspects of the human experience through the lens of the infinite and cosmic, and vice versa.

I thought it was an innnnteresting approach to a fourth-wall-breaking episode, but (i) I wish they'd turn a light on, (ii) has my hearing got worse between episodes or was there an unnecessary amount of mumbling?

I guess the darkness is symbolic of the Doctor's blindness, which "they" apparently know about (so much for keeping it secret from his enemies), but not the implications of the sonic sunglasses? O...kay...

The portal room and the turning-into-a-CGI-framework were fab, though! I thought this might link directly to the end of the series, but evidently (see stinger) we'll get the payoff next week.

"Religion in Who?" is awfully general, heh.

In this case I liked it; narratively it seemed to be flavor, while still being serious for the adherents, internally speaking? (IDK, I am not Catholic or even Christian, so.)

Oh I'm a an atheist, and I keep things deliberately vague to infuriate people ;)

For me this was the best episode of series 10 so far, it had so many things I like on Who: Missy, death, religion and mind-fucking theories. Really looking forward to the second part!
