I had to brave the depths of Tumblr to find it! It was very perilous!

Worth it. I luff her.

I thought some of the metaphysical imagery was particularly effective, and there were interesting rhythmic devices that seemed to counterpoint the surrealism of the underlying metaphor of the writer's compassionate soul, which contrives through the medium of the episodic structure to sublimate this, transcend that and come to terms with the fundamental dichotomies of the other, and one was left with a profound and insight into whatever it was that the episode was about.

Yeah, it was great.

I'm sure Moffat would have you thrown into space anyway because it'd throw his vogonity into sharp relief :)

When the Doctor said he couldn't go travelling again, what was that in reference to?

It's been so long since it was last on (bloody Moffat!) I've forgotten the finer points of the ending of the last season.

A Ah, I was maybe overthinking it then. I assumed it was to do with how things ended with Clara, but I was confused because he got his memory wiped.

I might be wrong! That just seemed to be the explanation that made most sense. I did like Bill's reaction to potential memory wipeage

Couple of things that a rewatch didn't answer:

- I still can't catch what Bill says at the beginning of her story about the extra chips woman in the cafeteria. Something about perving / unnerving / averting?
- When we see the close-up of the water dalek, it looks like there's handwriting in a black panel below the eye stalk.

I'm going to have to wind to those bits on iPlayer with subtitles and freeze...

The first is perving I think, but I'll be interested to find out what the second is.

The writing on the dalek is at 39:47 on iPlayer. I've still no idea what it is though.

Sounds like a time signature. What happens that amount of time into the episode
momentsmusicaux: (Default)
posted by [personal profile] momentsmusicaux at 09:27pm on 16/04/2017
Yes, what I mean is that at time index 39:47, going by the time that iPlayer displays, is when you can see the thing on the dalek. In case you or anyone else wants to have a look and see what you make of it.

I've still no idea. It looks like squiggly writing to me, but then that's maybe because I have very squiggly writing myself.

which i only caught on second viewing: When Bill finds the photos of her mom, there's an image of the Doctor in a mirror taking the pictures. I love that he went back in time to give her that. And how touched she was by finding them. I wonder what she will do with the knowledge that he's involved..

It's only just occurred to me (and therefore that makes this a fridge moment) that the basic plot is the same as The Empty Child and The Girl in the Fireplace: small automatic component of a ship or alien device malfunctions and tries to use humans to fix itself and complete its function.

It made my week. I have not watched a pilot right after it aired in awhile and I loved it! It was exciting without being convoluted plot-wise (I was shocked by how straightforward it was). I am eagerly looking forward to the rest of this season.

Bill. <33333!!!
